Pastor Steve has been with SBC since 2009. A native of North Dakota, he and his wife, Grace, have three daughters—Katie (& Brendan) Crofutt, Victoria (& John) Rogers, and Stephanie (& Treynor) Wolfe. They also enjoy granddaughters, Vaida & Aubrey Crofutt; and Jackson, Will, Naomi and Charlotte Rogers. Steve is active in community organizations, and enjoys sports, the outdoors, genealogy, guitar, and travel. An avid motorcyclist, he and Grace enjoyed a bike trip along Route 66 several years ago.
Pastor Steve believes that the purpose of the church is to worship God and to be a place where people are invited to share in the experience of conforming to the image of Christ. 

 

Mark Pudwill
Music Director

Mark recently returned after nearly 35 years.  He grew up at Second Baptist and was the organist from 1983-1988 before moving away for post-graduate education.  He is a retired physician, but always pursued his musical interests.  He has played the organ for churches in Nebraska, Minnesota, and Kansas, accompanied multiple choral ensembles, and been music director for numerous theater productions.  

Tessa Foreman
Administrative Assistant

Tessa came to work for Second Baptist in January 2016. She grew up in McCook, Nebraska and went to college in Kearney, where she graduated with degrees in American History and Political Science. She has previously worked at other Lincoln church organizations and at the Nebraska State Patrol. She is active with Nebraskans for Peace State Board of Directors, where she volunteers as the group's Legislative Advocate. She enjoys reading mystery novels and books on American History and politics. She and her husband, Matt, share their home with 3 cats and enjoy traveling. 











 

Kay Byers
Accompianst

Kay completed a BA in music education, an MA in piano performance, and a Ph.D in Educational Administration and in Curriculum and Instruction.  She taught music in Illinois, Florida and here in Lincoln at all grades levels and college.  She moved into administration as the Supervisor of Elementary Personnel for Lincoln Public Schools in 1994 until her retirement in July 2018.  
Kay is married to Rich Byers and has one daughter, Lisa Christy, who lives in Portland with her husband, Tim, and son, Cooper.  
Kay grew up in the church so she started playing the piano in church at age 9 and has been playing it ever since.  She says it has been a great blessing and joy in her life.
